Questions and answers
What clinics and IT companies ask us.
Can’t find your question? Write to Eligent@protonmail.com.
Is Eligent available now?
Eligent is being tried with its first practice, a medical and dental office in California. We are taking demo requests from clinics that would like to be among the next.
Which insurance companies does Eligent work with?
Eligent checks coverage electronically through a clearinghouse, a service that connects to a long list of insurance companies, including large national plans, state Medicaid plans such as Medi-Cal, and dental insurers.
For an insurer that can’t be checked electronically, Eligent opens that insurer’s own website and shows your staff what to look for, so the answer still ends up in one place. Send us the insurers your clinic checks most and we’ll tell you how each one would be handled.
What does it cost?
Eligent is licensed by the year, per clinic. The price depends on the size of the clinic and on whether your IT company runs the server or Eligent hosts it. Request a demo and we’ll give you a quote.
Do we need new computers?
No. Eligent runs on the Windows computers your staff already use: Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
Who runs the server, us or you?
Either. If your clinic has an IT company, it can run Eligent’s server alongside the other systems it looks after. If not, Eligent hosts it for you. See how it works for IT companies.
How do staff sign in?
Each person signs in with their own Microsoft work account, the one they use for email. There are no shared logins, and turning off someone’s work account turns off their Eligent access.
Does Eligent replace our practice management system?
No. Eligent works beside it. It checks insurance, tracks authorizations and keeps a list of the checks that need a person. It can also read the day’s appointments from a file your current system exports, so you can check everyone on the schedule at once.
Is Eligent HIPAA compliant?
HIPAA applies to your clinic and to the businesses that handle patient information for it, not to a piece of software on its own, so no software can honestly be called “HIPAA compliant” by itself.
What we can tell you is what Eligent does to protect patient information, which is on our Security page, and that Eligent signs a business associate agreement with each clinic before any patient information is entered.
Does Eligent work for dental offices as well as medical?
Yes. Eligent was built first for a practice that does both, and it checks medical and dental coverage alike.
Can we see it before deciding?
Yes. Request a demo and we’ll show a live check, start to finish. Your IT company is welcome to join.
